Animal Talk

Animal Talk

Sasha and I have had the pleasure of hosting Animal Talk for a WPC Presents Showcase during KahBang this past summer.  We are also extremely excited to be playing with them tomorrow in Portland at Empire with the Portland based band Forget Forget.  Let me tell you a little bit about Animal Talk.

This band we first discovered last winter when we were looking to book a show in Boston and needed to find a band to play with.  Our friends in the band Aloud suggested that we take a listen to Animal Talk.  I got on good ole Facebook, typed in their name, found their band page, started listening, and yelled for Sasha to come in the room and listen.  We sent the email to them asking if they could do the show.  They couldn’t do the show.  Sad face.  Fast forward a few months and we were asked to host some showcases for KahBang.  We were asked if we had any bands that we would like to have come up and play our showcases.  I was quick to suggest Animal Talk.  Next thing you know, they were in Bangor, playing a WPC Presents Showcase.

Think Electric Six, Black Crowes, The Strokes.  Such great dance-ability, fun melody lines, with memorable sing a long choruses.  Bass lines that make your feet shuffle, drums that keep the rhythm flowing through your body, making you shake your limbs to and fro.  The vocals are so pleasing to the ear, with tight harmonies, sometimes hearing the high falsetto ringing through makes you think of Queen, Earth Wind and Fire, and those other great bands of the 70′s and 80′s with soaring harmonies.

They are performing tomorrow night at Empire with Forget Forget, and When Particles Collide.  You can check them out on their Facebook page, their website, or any of their upcoming shows!  Give the gift of “local” music during this holiday season.  Hit these band pages up and buy their albums, tshirt, bumper stickers, coozies, whatever cool stuff they have.  These are way cooler presents than getting another shirt from Gap or Urban Outfitters.  Help all us bands keep putting fuel in our tanks, food in our bellies, getting hotel rooms to sleep in, and skinny jeans to stay hip.  Buy local!  Support the music scene.  See you rockin at the clubs soon!
